Abarth racing, the challenge continues next weekend

• In Spain, the SMC Junior Motorsport team in the Rallye Villa de Adeje with the Abarth 124 rally of Alberto Monarri (SP) and Rodrigo Sanjuán (SP).

Another weekend of major international events for Abarth: in Spain, the SMC Junior Motorsport team, with Alberto Monarri (SP) and Rodrigo Sanjuàn (SP), defends its leadership of the R-GT category in the Rally Villa de Adeje, held on the island of Tenerife, while the drivers of the Abarth Selenia Trophy and the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth will be competing on the Le Castellet circuit in France on Saturday 12 and Sunday 13 May.
The Rallye Villa de Adeje, a Spanish Tarmac Rally Championship event held on the island of Tenerife (SP), involving the Madrid-based SMC Junior Motorsport team with the crew of Alberto Monarri (SP) and Rodrigo Sanjuàn (SP) in an Abarth 124 rally.
In the two previous races the Spanish team was victorious in the R-GT category, and its aim is to finish first again at this event.
The race on the island of Tenerife involves two gruelling stages: the first starts from Adeje at 5 pm on Friday 11 May and ends late the same evening, at around 11.30 pm. The second, concluding section of the race starts at 9 am on Saturday 12 May and ends at 5.30 pm. Overall, there are 14 special test stages, with a total of 154.54 km of time trials out of a course of 462 km.
In France there is eager expectation ahead of the Abarth Selenia Trophy's return to the Le Castellet circuit, which the championship last visited in 2014. Italian, Finnish, Swedish and French drivers will fight it out at the wheel of Abarth 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione cars on one of Europe's most spectacular tracks. Italian Cosimo Barberini, who won the Trophy's two opening races held at Imola, will be challenged by his fellow-countryman Andrea Mabellini, Finnish driver Juuso Pajuranta and Robin Appelqvist from Sweden.
In the Abarth 500 Assetto Corse category, the battle for the top spot is between very young Under 18 drivers Filippo Lazzaroni (ITA) and Aurora Coria (ITA).
Competing as a guest at this Abarth Selenia Trophy event will be Frenchman Nicolas Ciamin, an up-and-coming rally driver currently involved full time in the French Rally Championship, driving the Milano Racing team's Abarth 124. For Ciamin, just 20 years old and a participant in the French Federation's scheme for young rally drivers, this will mark his return to circuit racing after 2 years away. Ciamin stated: "Getting back on the track is always exciting, and taking to the circuit in an Abarth racing car is an even greater thrill. I can't wait to try the 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione and pit my skills against its finest drivers; it's going to be an adrenalin-packed weekend!".
The Le Castellet circuit will also host the second event in the Italian F4 Championship powered by Abarth, with 31 fledgling drivers, representing 17 countries, at the wheel of the Tatuus single-seaters propelled by the Abarth T-Jet engine.
The overall standings are headed by Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi, who recorded two wins in the first race, on the Adria circuit, with Leonardo Lorandi in second place.

Premium-Motorsport von Abarth - am Wochenende geht es erneut „heiß" her

In Spanien will das SMC Junior Motorsport Team mit dem Abarth 124 Rallye die Führung in der Gesamtwertung ausbauen. In Frankreich startet die Abarth Selenia Trophy durch - und die italienische Formel-4-Meisterschaft gastiert in Le Castellet.
Ein weiteres Wochenende mit großen internationalen Veranstaltungen steht für Abarth und seine Motorsportler ins Haus: In Spanien will das Team von SMC Junior Motorsport mit dem Piloten Alberto Monarri und seinem Rodrigo Sanjuàn die Gesamtführung in der R-GT-Klasse halten oder gar ausbauen. Die beiden Spanier gehen das Rennen bei der Rallye Villa de Adeje auf Teneriffa nun optimistisch und bestens vorbereitet an. Außerdem starten die Fahrer der Abarth Selenia Trophy und der italienischen Formel-4-Meisterschaft am Samstag, den 12. und am Sonntag, den 13. Mai auf der legendären französischen Rennstrecke von Le Castellet. Speziell die Rennen in der Formel 4 sind an Spannung kaum zu überbieten - dafür sorgen die Monoposti mit ihren optimierten Motoren aus dem Hause Abarth, aber auch das hochkarätig besetzte, junge Fahrerfeld.
Die berühmte Rallye Villa de Adeje gehört zur spanischen Rallye-Meisterschaft und findet traditionell auf der Insel Teneriffa statt. Das in Madrid ansässige SMC Junior Motorsport Team um den Fahrer Alberto Monarri und seinen Copiloten Rodrigo Sanjuàn will auf der größten kanarischen Insel für Furore sorgen. Auf jeden Fall gehören die beiden spanischen Sportler und ihr Abarth 124 zu den Topfavoriten auf den Sieg. Zumal Monarri und sein Partner bereits die beiden vorangegangen Rallyes in der R-GT-Klasse gewonnen haben und nach den beiden ersten Rennwochenenden die Gesamtführung in diesem Segment verteidigen wollen.
Die Rallye auf Teneriffa beinhaltet zwei anstrengende Etappen: Die erste startet am Freitag, den 11.Mai um 17 Uhr von Adeje aus und endet am späten Abend gegen 23.30 Uhr. Der zweite, abschließende Teil des Rennens beginnt am Samstag, den 12. Mai um 9 Uhr und endet um 17.30 Uhr. Insgesamt gilt es 14 Sonderprüfungen mit insgesamt 154,54 km Zeitfahren zu bewältigen. Die Gesamtstrecke der Rallye beträgt 462 Kilometer.
In Frankreich sind derweil Erwartungen bei der Rückkehr der Abarth Selenia Trophy nach Le Castellet groß - zuletzt war die beliebte Rennserie im Jahr 2014 auf der traditionsreichen Rennstrecke unweit der Côte d'Azur zu Gast. Auf dem Circuit Paul Ricard werden italienische, schwedische und finnische Fahrer, aber auch französische Lokalmatadoren mit den ebenso schnellen wie agilen Abarth 695 Asseto Corse an den Start gehen. Auf einer der spektakulärsten Strecken Europas ist diese Mal der Italiener Cosimo Barberini Favorit, denn er gewann die beiden ersten Saisonläufe in Imola. Aber speziell sein Landsmann Andrea Mabellini, der Finne Juuso Pajuranta und Robin Appelqvist aus Schweden zeigten in der Emilia-Romagna ebenfalls ihr großes Können und sind dem Führenden dicht auf dem Fersen. Bei der Abarth 500 Assetto Corse kämpfen derweil die jungen unter 18-jährigen Talente Filippo Lazzaroni und Aurora Coria - beide aus Italien - um den ersten Platz.
Als besonderer Gast tritt bei dieser Abarth Selenia Trophy der Franzose Nicolas Ciamin an. Ciamin ein aufstrebender, erst 20 Jahre junger Fahrer. Er ist derzeit eigentlich in der französischen Rallye-Meisterschaft aktiv und pilotiert den Abarth 124 des Milano Racing Teams. Für den Franzosen ist stellt dies, nach einer zweijährigen Pause, die „offizielle" Rückkehr auf einen Rundkurs dar. Ciamin erklärt dazu: „Es ist immer aufregend, wieder auf dieser besonderen Strecke zu starten. Und in Le Castellet mit einem Rennwagen von Abarth-Rennwagen zu fahren, ist dann der doppelte Nervenkitzel. Ich kann es kaum erwarten, den 695 Assetto Corse Evoluzione auszuprobieren und gegen die besten Fahrer anzutreten. Es wird ein garantiert adrenalinreiches Wochenende!"
Auf der Rennstrecke von Le Castellet findet auch das zweite Rennwochenende der italienischen Formel-4-Meisterschaft statt. Für 31 junge Piloten geht es in den Wertungsläufen vier, fünf und sechs um Punkte und Positionen. Ihre Sportgeräte sind die Tatuus-Monoposti, die vom optimierten, 118 kW (160 PS) starken Abarth T-Jet-Motoren angetrieben werden. Besonders gut mit dem Fahrzeug kam bislang der Brasilianer Enzo Fittipaldi zurecht, denn er führt in der Gesamtwertung. Der Enkel des zweimaligen Formel-1-Champions Emerson Fittipaldi gewann beim Saisonauftakt auf dem Adria International Raceway sowohl den ersten als auch den dritten Lauf und wurde im zweiten Rennen Dritter. Härtester Verfolger ist der Italiener Leonardo Lorandi, der einen Lauf gewann und zweimal Zweiter wurde.
