Alfa Romeos of the past and present take to the stage at Goodwood

• Stelvio Quadrifoglio makes its United Kingdom debut at the twenty-fifth "Festival of Speed 2018".
• By its side will be the showcar of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team currently competing in the Formula 1 FIA World Championship with Marcus Ericsson and Charles Leclerc.

From 12 to 15 July, the English county of West Sussex will host the "Goodwood Festival of Speed", one of the most prestigious events in the international motorsports calendar. The Festival will also be attended by fine historic Alfa Romeo brand cars, as well as current production models, confirming the unbreakable bond between the icons of the past and the models that embody the brand's new paradigm today. What's more, the event will include the United Kingdom debut of the right-hand drive version of the fastest SUV in its class: Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio, to be put through its paces on the famous Goodwood hill on Thursday.
Racing DNA: the return to Formula 1 and the Nürburgring Edition special series
Not just Stelvio Quadrifoglio: on the Alfa Romeo stand, the many fans flocking to the event will also be able to admire the best of today's production, as well as the showcar of the Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team, currently competing in the FIA World Championship.
Also on display will be two magnificent limited edition models, available in the EMEA region in just 108 units per model, recalling the brand's 108th birthday, celebrated on 24 June. They are the Nürburgring Edition Giulia Quadrifoglio "NRING" and Stelvio Quadrifoglio "NRING" special series, celebrating the two cars' records set on the famous German circuit.
Giulia Quadrifoglio "NRING" and Stelvio Quadrifoglio "NRING" represent the pinnacle of the brand's excellence in terms of technical contents, performance and style and are powered by the 510HP 2.9 V6 Bi-Turbo engine. Stelvio, holder of the record for its class exploited its 600 Nm of torque, acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h in 3.8 seconds and top speed of 283 km/h to cover the 20.832 km of the Nordschleife in 7 minutes, 51.7 seconds.
The two cars also offer a satisfying and exclusive customer experience, also including a driving experience on the Nürburgring, intended for collectors and the most loyal customers who will take the wheel of these concentrates of supreme performance and technology. In fact, as well as the Quadrifoglio trim level features, the "NRING" models provide a special "Welcome kit" and a full specs outfit.
In addition to the features of excellence that characterise all Quadrifoglio cars, the "NRING" special series is further upgraded by carbon-ceramic brakes, Sparco racing seats with red stitching and carbon shell structure, automatic transmission knob with carbon fibre insert, and leather and Alcantara steering wheel, also with carbon fibre inserts. The front badge and the rearview mirror caps are made of carbon fibre, like the side skirt inserts. Not to mention tinted windows, Adaptive Cruise Control, the Harman Kardon premium audio package, and the Alfa^TM Connect 3D Nav infotainment system with 8.8'' screen, Apple CarPlay^TM, Android Auto^TM and DAB. Giulia premieres the new bare carbon roof, and Stelvio is equipped with electrically operated panoramic roof. Both have mats with red logo developed by Mopar.
To conclude, both cars have the original Circuit Grey livery, only available on this limited edition.
To celebrate the birth of the new limited edition the NRING versions will have specific "Authenticity Certification" issued by FCA Heritage, the department that promotes the historic record of the FCA Group's Italian brands. The decision to provide these special editions with "Authenticity Certification", normally only issued for historic cars, immediately gives them genuine "Instant Classic" status.
The best of current production
Alongside the Nürburgring Edition special series, the Stelvio Quadrifoglio in Vulcano Black livery, the Giulia Veloce Ti and the Giulietta Veloce. The Alfa Romeo Giulia Veloce Ti, in Competizione Red livery, equipped with 280 HP turbo petrol powerplant combined with 8-speed automatic transmission and Q4 all-wheel drive, is a fine embodiment of the technical and automotive excellence of the Giulia range. The time-honoured code "Ti", standing for "Turismo internazionale", has always been reserved to the most lavishly equipped, leading-edge, extreme versions. The Giulia Ti is the most exclusive version in the range, successfully combining the Giulia Veloce's sporty flavour with an alluring style, a rich standard outfit and the very latest technology, a near sister to the Quadrifoglio, with which it shares several stylistic features. Impressively, the Giulia's style recently received the "Compasso d'Oro ADI", the world's most highly respected design award.
The Giulietta Veloce is the sportiest version in the Giulietta range: it is fitted with the 240 HP 1750 Turbo Petrol engine and TCT automatic transmission. With metallic Misano Blue paintwork, this high-performing version is identified, on the outside, by the sporty bumpers with red Alfa inserts, the glossy anthracite finishes on the handles, fog light surrounds, mirror caps and radiator grill "V", the electronic sun roof with large glazed section, the oversize Brembo braking system with red calipers, the burnished finish 5-spoke 18" alloy wheels and the larger-sized twin exhaust tips. This strongly sporty personality is also reflected on the inside, with its sporty leather and Alcantara seats with integral head restraint, contrasting red seams and sporty cut leather steering-wheel.
The FCA Heritage collection
The Goodwood Festival of Speed is one of the world's largest outdoor automotive events, and this year it celebrates its twenty-fifth anniversary in the lovely West Sussex countryside. More than 600 cars and motorbikes, retracing the amazing history of motoring and motor cycling, will be taking part in the event, with some of these sports' most legendary personalities, as well as world-famous celebrities. The Festival would not be complete without FCA Heritage, the Group department dedicated to conserving and promoting the historic legacy of FCA's Italian brands, which takes part with two Alfa Romeo gems from its collection, representing the unbreakable bond connecting a great history to a great future. Visitors will be able to admire two models normally on show at the Museo Storico Alfa Romeo in Arese (Milan): the 1750 GT Am and the 1900 Sport Spider.

Alfa Romeo 1750 GT Am

The 1750 GT Am was type-approved for GT racing, on the basis of the 1750 GT Veloce version built for the USA market - hence the "Am" for "America". Unlike the model sold in Europe, the 1750 GTV - from which the GT Am was born - featured the Spica indirect mechanical injection system, which complied with American emissions standards and was also well suited to racing. In contrast with the Giulia Sprint GTA and the later GTA 1300 Junior, the "GT Am" had steel body panelling and riveted fibreglass wheel arch flares, giving the car a very aggressive look. There were also major changes to the engine, giving it a power of 220 HP at 7500 rpm to propel the GT Am to a speed of 240 km/h.
The GT Am achieved great success in the European GT Championship when the car's top driver, the "Flying Dutchman" Toine Hezemans, won the Drivers' Title in 1970.
Alfa Romeo 1900 Sport Spider

Only two 1900 Sport Spider cars were ever built, and the only one to have survived is from the FCA Heritage collection, with bodywork designed by Bertone. It was constructed under the supervision of Orazio Satta and Giuseppe Busso. The car's mechanicals originate from the "1900 Super Sprint": the twin-cam engine had the same cast iron engine block as the coupé, but the displacement was raised to close to the two litre limit (1,997.4 cc) for racing purposes. The compression ratio was boosted to 9:1, dry sump lubrication was added and power was increased to 138 HP. The car was equipped with double wishbone front suspensions with a De Dion rear axle, the solution adopted twenty years later on the "Alfetta" sedan.

Vom 12. bis 15. Juli 2018 findet zum 25. Mal das „Goodwood Festival of Speed", statt. Das mit über 600 Fahrzeugen weltweit größte Treffen seiner Art ist eine große, nach historischem Vorbild organisierte Landparty, die sich neben zahlreichen Prominenten aus Show und Motorsport auch rund 200.000 Zuschauer nicht entgehen lassen. Alfa Romeo beteiligt sich am diesjährigen „Goodwood Festival of Speed" mit zwei legendären Rennfahrzeuge, dem Formel-1-Boliden des Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Teams sowie den Spitzenmodellen aus dem aktuellen Programm. Ein weiteres Highlight ist die Großbritannien-Premiere der rechtsgelenkten Variante des Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio.
Die Motorsport-DNA von Alfa Romeo
Das Showcar des Alfa Romeo Sauber F1-Teams von Charles Leclerc und Marcus Ericsson, repräsentiert die motorsportliche Gegenwart von Alfa Romeo. Zwei neue Sondermodelle würdigen dagegen die lange Tradition von Alfa Romeo auf dem Nürburgring. Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio NRING und Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio NRING verweisen auf zwei Rundenrekorde, die von diesen Modellen auf der legendären Nordschleife erzielt wurden. Beide werden nur jeweils 108 Mal gebaut - eine Hommage an die auf das Jahr 1910 zurückreichenden Wurzeln von Alfa Romeo.
Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio NRING und Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio NRING werden von einem V6-Benziner mit einem Hubraum von 2,9 Litern und Bi-Turbo-Aufladung angetrieben. Das Spitzentriebwerk im Motorenportfolio von Alfa Romeo leistet 375 kW (510 PS), das maximale Dreh­moment beträgt 600 Newtonmeter. Damit erreicht der Alfa Romeo Stelvio Quadrifoglio eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 283 km/h und beschleunigt in 3,8 Sekunden aus dem Stand auf Tempo 100. Die 20,382 Kilometer lange Nordschleife des Nürburgrings umrundete das High-Performance-SUV in 7.51,7 Minuten. Die Alfa Romeo Giulia Quadrifoglio ist bei Bedarf 307 km/h schnell, den Sprint von null auf 100 km/h erledigt die viertürige Sportlimousine in 3,9 Sekunden. Ihre Rekordzeit auf der Nordschleife: 7.32 Minuten. Die insgesamt 216 Käufer der beiden NRING Sondermodelle erwerben nicht nur eins der exklusivsten Automobile auf dem Markt. Sie kommen darüber hinaus in den Genuss zusätzlicher Leistungen, die das Erlebnis mit den beiden Sondermodellen abrunden. Darunter sind ein hochwertiger Welcome-Kit und ein Sportfahrerlehrgang am Nürburgring.

Zum „Goodwood Festival of Speed" entsendet FCA Heritage zwei legendäre Rennwagen, die normalerweise im Alfa Romeo Werksmuseum in Arese ausgestellt sind.
Vier runde Scheinwerfer, die tief auf den Asphalt geduckte Silhouette und die mächtigen Kotflügelverbreiterungen sind unverwechselbare Kennzeichen des Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTAm. Mit dieser Version des legendären „Bertone" startete das Werksteam von Alfa Romeo erstmals 1970 in der Tourenwagen-Europameisterschaft. Die beiden Buchstaben „Am" im Namen sind ein Verweis auf den Motor - er ist mit der in Amerika verwendeten mechanischen Spica-Einspritzanlage versehen, leistet so aus zwei Litern Hubraum rund 220 PS bei 7.500 Touren und ermöglicht eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 240 km/h. Nur 40 Exemplare dieses Renners mit Stahlkarosserie und Anbauteilen aus leichtem Kunststoff fertigte das Werksteam Autodelta. Der Niederländer Toine Hezemans wurde 1970 mit dem Alfa Romeo Giulia 1750 GTAm Europameister. In den beiden folgenden Jahren holte Alfa Romeo mit der 1300er Version außerdem zwei Europameister-Titel in der Herstellerwertung.
Aus der Designschmiede Bertone stammt der Alfa Romeo 1900 Sport Spider, von dem unter der Regie von Direktor Orazio Satta Puliga und Ingenieur Giuseppe Busso 1954 nur zwei Exemplare gebaut wurden. Für Vortrieb sorgt ein Vierzylinder, hier in einer Variante mit Trockensumpf-Ölkreislauf. Er ist auf 138 PS leistungsgesteigert durch auf 1.997,4 Kubikzentimeter vergrößertem Hubraum und auf 9:1 erhöhter Kompression. Dank des mit nur 880 Kilogramm sehr niedrigen Gewichts, des Fünfganggetriebes und der aerodynamisch günstig konstruierten Karosserie erreicht der Roadster eine Höchstgeschwindigkeit von 220 km/h. Für hervorragendes Fahrverhalten sorgen die vordere Radaufhängung mit doppelten Dreiecksquerlenkern die Hinterachse nach dem DeDion-Prinzip.
